Create a Persona

The 5 P’s of survival are Plan, Personify, Promote, Plug-in and Play. You now have survival tips 1-4 of Personify. Today I give you #5 and #6

5 _ CREATE A PRESS KIT: What you put in your press kit changes daily. However, simply having one is extremely important. I recommend keeping it simple, include a band bio, stickers and a cd. Some people may want a band photo, others may just laugh and draw mustaches on them.

6 _ ALWAYS CARRY CONTACT INFO: Similar to the Boy Scouts motto, be prepared, carry contact info implies just that. You never know when you’re going to run into a an industry professional that wants to work with you. Writing on your/their hand is not going to cut it professionally.

Opened loads of new CD's played tons of indie bands from the bay and far away.

Notice all the plastic? I was hella breaking out CD's and playing new tracks. In the last month I have received a lot of new music. Some of the CD's were dropped off at the station, others were acquired while at SxSW, and a coup via my PO Box. It was a show of discovery for me and hopefully you.
